Katie who?

So much fuss is being made of Katie Couric’s move to become the anchor of the CBS Evening News. But really, why? In today’s media world, anchors are less important. The media world is fractured. Our collective attention is spread over dozens of TV stations and thousands of news websites. Network TV news attracts an increasingly aging audience, clearly indicated by the high dose of commercials hawking pharmaceuticals.
Methinks the media coverage of Couric is way out of kilter with the media reality. If reporters think this is worth hyping as though it’s the Michael Jackson trial, they’re living in the past.
