BeatBlogging.org goes live

Newassignment.net’s BeatBlogging.org has launched. This is going to be an important experiment. The idea is simply to get beat reporters to experiment with using social networking technology to connect better and work collaboratively with interested people and experts in their beats.
Reading the applications from the participating reporters, it feels like the beginning of a sea change in news reporting is about to take hold. Reporters are starting to see the need to break away from the old way of doing things and better communicate with their communities.
Bravo to Jay Rosen and his colleagues for initiating this. Exciting stuff!
