I've tried RunKeeper, and TrailGuru.

The one I settled on finally is GPS Tracker Lite. It's free and does the job I need, and doesn't drain my battery.

What I needed GPS for: I go on these long-ish bike rides with a group that knows the unmarked trails around my town, and I never am able to figure out the trail on my own. So I needed something that could draw my trail on a map for future use and reference.

I'm going to give Fitnio a try.

I recommend you try out Fitnio. It's another Free iPhone fitness app that I find easier to use and more accurate.

I also really like that Fitnio displays the calories I've burned.

Check it out:

Thanks for this review Steve. I always wondered how useful the iPhone GPS apps were for mapping runs/bike rides.

I think once Apple gets the GPS capabilities working well enough to where it is on par with a stand alone device like a Forerunner, that will be the tipping point for me to finally whip out my credit card and get rid of my Blackberry.
