With Cleveland's economy in a world of hurt, and advertisers leaving their newspaper by the busload, the PD wants to protect its revenue. The way they are going about it is completely wrong. And like most newspapers, the PD has failed to embrace and adapt to new technologies that have cut into its subscriber base.

Better to remain silent
And be thought a fool
Then to speak out
And remove all doubt.

I've been a fool, sometimes.
I've been a newspaperman, sometimes.
I've been a blogger, sometimes.

I've been a pipsqueak, most of the time.

Thank you, Ted.

Meanwhile, and now that we have been introduced, up close and personal, I would like to kick your ass. If I were one of the execs on the Cleveland Plain Dealer, a rag in desperate need of a good video editor or a how-to dummy guide for all staff scribes, I would do one of the following:

1.Fire you - immediately.
2.Make you write a weekly column on blogs.
3.Remove the marbles in your mouth, speak slowly, face the camera, and apologize to all bloggers.
4.Recommend you accept the PR post with PrintPhobia.com

As a so-called "reader rep," do you have the balls and brains to say, "Oops!"

It's a friggin' insult to my craft and fellow scribes to see and listen to ignorant and arrogant comments on those who have, at least, the passion and determination and courage to meet the many challenges of the Net, and digital journalism in particular.

It's guys like you that give newspapers a bad name.

Get a life or get the f*** out of the game!

As a reporter, I like the idea of Payyattention, but I wonder if anyone actually donates.

The video saddened and sickened me as well. I don't like to disparage people I've never met, but criticism is justified for this absurdly myopic curmudgeon masquerading as "reader representative." Clearly his views cannot speak for the readers of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
