Steve,

I lived this (lack of) model today, as I began noticing a huge amount of traffic through our side street and a clog on the nearby main drag that went a half mile up and over the hill.

I emailed the neighborhood listserv and went back to replacing the porch screens with windows (the sadder of my semi-annual window duties). When I saw a neighbor pull up in her car, I resorted to the older form of hyperlocal news transmission: conversation.

Turns out, a major intersection was being resurfaced. Would knowing about that done us some good? Hell yeah. Would I pay for that? I think so, especially if that news source was some kind of cooperative that came from the neighborhood and benefitted the neighborhood.

So Howard's half-right. It would be CitJ, but there might also be some cash in it.
